  • Oppose
    • "Suggest" means to put forward an idea, plan or possibility for consideration. "Oppose", on the contrary, means to be against something and express active resistance or disagreement. For example, if someone suggests having a party on the weekend, another person might oppose the idea because they think it's too noisy or expensive. The person who suggests is presenting a positive option, while the one who opposes is actively trying to block or counter that option.
  • Reject
    • When you reject something, you completely turn down or refuse it. It's a more forceful and definitive action than just opposing. If a colleague suggests a new marketing strategy, but the manager rejects it, it means the manager has decided not to even consider it further. While "suggest" is about offering something for possible acceptance, "reject" is about firmly saying no and closing the door on that suggestion.
  • Dismiss
    • "Dismiss" implies casually or quickly rejecting or putting aside an idea or suggestion without giving it much thought or consideration. If someone suggests a theory during a discussion, and another person dismisses it as unimportant or irrelevant, they are showing a lack of respect or interest in the suggestion. It's the opposite of suggesting in that it doesn't allow the idea to be seriously considered or explored.
  • Disapprove
    • "Disapprove" means to have a negative opinion about something and express that it is not acceptable or satisfactory. When someone suggests an action or behavior, and others disapprove, they are indicating that they do not think it's a good idea. For example, if a child suggests staying up late to play games, the parents may disapprove because they think it's not good for the child's health. "Disapprove" is the opposite of "suggest" in the sense that it gives a negative evaluation rather than putting forward a positive or neutral idea.
